While weight loss can be achieved through diet and exercise, there are times when weight loss is not enough and when drastic measures are needed to change body composition or body mass index (BMI). These drastic measures may include undergoing surgery or taking medications such as prednisone and cortisone to suppress appetite. Losing too much weight can be dangerous to your health because the increased body mass index can make you susceptible to diseases and health risks. It is important to talk with your doctor about your weight loss goals and potential options for helping you lose excessive weight.
