Reasons For Choosing Chiropractic Care For Headache

There are several different types of headaches, and the treatment for each one is different depending on the pathophysiological factors. While mild and infrequent headaches are considered normal, if your headache episodes are unprovoked and occur at frequent intervals (two or more per week), they are not responsive to over-the-counter analgesics or rest, and they are not associated with other symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, or lightheadedness, they are considered serious.Do you want to learn more? Tension headaches are very common (approximately 78 percent of all headaches are tension headaches), and they are characterised by a constricting form of pain that begins in the back of the head and extends to the neck and scalp. For years, researchers and investigators have been trying to figure out what causes stress headaches. According to extensive research, they may be caused by changes in the biochemical environment of the brain caused by changes in the secretion of certain neurotransmitters, poor posture, and wear and tear changes in the bones that affect muscular activity (muscle tightening or contraction affects the blood supply to the brain, and/or teeth clenching increases the pressure on the tempo-mandibular joint). TMJ agitation is another common cause of stress headaches, particularly in people who have sleep problems.

When compared to men, women have a higher risk of experiencing stress headaches. Tension headaches are exacerbated by advancing age and sudden/abrupt changes in the body’s biochemical setting. Changes in oestrogen concentration (just before menstruation or during the perimenopausal years) greatly increase the likelihood of stress headaches. Tension headaches are also linked to persistent and severe stress, sleep disturbances, and substance addiction, all of which are strong risk factors.

Chiropractic therapy is often beneficial in the treatment of episodic headaches (especially cervicogenic and tension type headaches). According to research, cervical misalignment or subluxation may trigger headaches and can be treated with chiropractic adjustments to restore neuronal connectivity. A number of studies on patients with chronic tension type headaches find that chiropractic therapy has a much higher overall effectiveness than other pharmacological therapies, with far less side effects.
