Tracks branch off in all directions to discover alpine flora, mountain streams and turquoise lakes.
	A world away (and 40 minutes by road) lies Glenorchy, a friendly village surrounded by the majestic alps where many world-famous tracks start. To come to this part of the world and not spend at least 23 days walking in the wilderness around Glenorchy would be unforgivable.

Sample itinerary:

Sunday
Transfer from Queenstown to your Lodge in Glenorchy. This scenic drive has fantastic views of Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains. On arrival, relax and have an evening meal in either the local pub or at the Lodge itself.

Monday
Short drive to the start of the famous Routeburn track with fabulous waterfalls and beech forest. Have lunch at a pristine lake and return in time to shower and relax in the tranquillity of Glenorchy village.

Tuesday
Walk in a valley where youÂ’ll see crystal clear mountain lakes, on tracks with lush native vegetation and abundant bird life. In the twilight, thereÂ’s time to explore walkways around Glenorchy, with opportunities to see native birds on the lagoon.

Wednesday
Transfer day to accommodation in Queenstown for Explorer holidays. ThereÂ’s plenty to do in Queenstown, shopping, sightseeing, wine tasting, golf, local walks or even a bungy jump.

Thursday
After a short drive into the foothills of the Remarkables mountain range walk with superb views of the Queenstown area including the Southern Alps. Lunch in a sheltered spot near the summit and on your return; relax before taking advantage of some of the many evening attractions in town.

Friday
Experience typical Otago tussock hills. This track takes you to open countryside exploring some remains of gold mining days on rivers that cut through this area. Return via a vineyard where you can sample some award-winning New Zealand wines.

Saturday
Your transfer will pick you up in good time for your onward connections.
