This is an area of two cultures in the north of Italy in a beautiful mountain setting famous for its pink rock. We stay in both the Italian-speaking and the German-speaking regions and the contrast gives this scenic walking holiday added cultural and historical interest.
Sample itinerary:
Day One Arrive Venice to meet the early afternoon transfer to a small hotel in the centre of the village of Zoldo in the German-speaking region of the Dolomites. After meeting the guide, take a short walk around the small town, a good time for an aperitif, and get ready to sample an excellent dinner in the hotel.

Days Two to Five Walks will be quite close to where we are staying using a series of tracks and paths. Guides will advise according to weather forecast and track conditions. We walk a number of forest tracks offering dramatic views of the beautiful Dolomite mountains and the deep valleys that lie below. We will take in some of the best known routes in the area: the Civetta valley, Mt Nuvolao, walk around Mt Pelmo and Mt Pramper and also a walk around the Croda da Lago mountains stopping to look at human settlements, wildlife and the rich history of these valleys.
Day Six Transfer day on a scenic drive that showcases the dramatic scenery the Dolomites is renowned for. We stop for lunch en route at a restaurant typical of this area. Our destination is our hotel in the village of Moena, on the Italian-speaking side of the Dolomites. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the village.
Days Seven to Nine Three more hikes around the Catinaccio, the Col Ombert in the valley of San Nicolo Mt Sassolungo, the summit of Piz Boe and a walk around the beautiful Marmolada mountains. There is an option on the last night to stay at the Contrin refuge/ mountain shelter for the adventurous ones. Again, there is plenty of walking without straying too far from the hotel.
Day Ten Leave Moena and head towards the lowland. Stop over at Belluno and/or Feltre, Cittadella, Castelfranco, all beautiful ancient towns on the way to the airport in Venice. You are free to extend your trip and spend a few days in this magnificent city.
